Wellness with Lindz on 702
Wellness with Lindz was invited to join the host of Radio 702 to raise awareness around suicide prevention on the 11th September 2023, which is commemorated on the 10th September each year.
The theme for the awareness campaign was: “Creating Hope Through Action”. According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), “Creating Hope Through Action” is the triennial theme for the World Suicide Prevention Day from 2021-2023. This theme serves as a powerful call to action and reminder that there is an alternative to suicide and that through our actions we can encourage hope and strengthen prevention.
It is further highlighted by WHO that by creating hope through action, we can signal to people experiencing suicidal thoughts that there is hope and that we care and want to support them. It also suggests that our actions, no matter how big or small, may provide hope to those who are struggling.
As such, at Wellness with Lindz, we encourage you to join hands as we raise awareness around suicide, which remains a public health problem facing us. What role can you play in supporting those that are struggling, we need to create hope, we need to show that we care and are prepared to walk the journey with those in need. Le us create HOPE for those that are faced with challenges, suffering from the life struggles facing them, those who are feeling helpless and hopeless.
It is also our goal at Wellness with Lindz, in partnership with various individuals, organisations, private companies to works towards reducing stigma around mental health issues and raise awareness on the importance of seeking help, reaching out to our support structures in times of need.
